When IYB asked me to do an official podcast for their blog, I wanted to offer them something special.
Since a while, I was observing the new "vibe" of the electronique music style coming from the third world countries, and especialy the Kuduro.
Coming from Angola and Portugal, this new style uses traditional african music (semba) and several different kinds of electronic music (house, electro,...).The name Kuduro has a double meaning, you can translate it as "hard ass" but it's also a type of dance where the female dancer bounces ands swings her bottom to the rhythm.
The genre got heavily promoted by M.I.A. and Diplo and now you can see the movement spreading fast through local clubs (remember the Buraka show in Recyclart last week!) and more globaly trough the internet.
Today, the main actors are starting to see some international fame! Most known are probably Buraka Som Systema, but dj Znobia and dj Manya are some common names often related to the genre.
For my personal mix, I've chosen 12 songs, and edited it by keeping the best "breaks".
The collectif N_RV are responsable for the grafism.
