Crucial Alphonso, born Yano Zwinnen, grew up in the mids of the 80's Belgian reggaevibes, as he was born in a family where reggae music played every day. He has translated this background in hard steppertracks that found their way to soundsystems in Belgium, France, the UK and the USA. It’s quite clear that reggae means a lot more to this young Antwerp producer than entertainment.

Do you remember the first parties of Unrezt in Namur? We sure do! Tonight though they decided to do things bigger and better, but keeping in mind the same sociable and cozy vibes of 10 years ago. Place to be: Congres Station, Brussels!

Sometimes words are poor at describing things. It’s the case of Untitled! which stands for more than a label, party brand or organization. No need for a name, it’s all about the good vibes coming from Antwerp and there’s evidence to testify it. Everybody’s saying it, from N-Type to Hijak and Sgt. Pokes .... and everyone in the crowd must be feeling it. Untitled! recently celebrated their 2 year anniversary during which they brought in some of the hottest club night line ups ever seen in Belgium. It happens 4 times a year and it’s all about dubstep in case you didn’t know it.

This weekend Recyclart is preparing itself for another edition of Nightshop. Get yourself ready for a musical discovery around the world, because that is what Nightshop plans to offer this Saturday.

This Saturday Vooruit will have a serious job not to collapse by the weight of the line up One87 made for Daily Dubstep.
We are used to nonsense line ups in Antwerp with the Untitled! parties at Trixx. but for this week end, the focus is on Gent with a second edition and a damn kicking ass selection of the best artists in bass music.

The name Soul Remedy obviously rings a bell for a lot of Belgian dubheads. Selector Dread Pressure spreaded a new dub sound during the nineties, setting a standard to the current generation of dubbers with his mixtapes “Roots & Culture” and “Truths & Rights”.
I meet the two brothers somewhere in Leuven at a hot summer’s day. I don’t get a lot of time to gaze at the long lines of rare vinyl stacked up against the wall; we settle down immediately for some serious reasoning about reggae music, soundsystems and “rasta business".

We’re not sure what to say about its football team but if Belgium was to compete in a World Cup of Dubstep league then Stainage Records would have probably been one of the most dangerous attackers.

August, 2009. Andreas Peeters started to work on a graphical documentary on the Belgian reggae sound systems and asked us if we could publish this on IYB. Since we are not updated ourselves on who the key players are in this scene, we thought this was a cool initiative and were happy to publish this.
The following weeks we'll give you a series of interviews Andreas made with some of the Belgian starters of this interesting scene.
First up: High'r Ites!

For those of you who cannot get enough of artists like Hudson Mohawke, Dorian Concept and Samyam...than don't forget about our own Belgian Dyno and his new release Gum Dragon.

A good start for 2010 by the Fabric Records camp. Newest release Elevator Music vol. 1 is taking 140bpm bass music to another level. A bunch of new producers show on this cd their take on dark garage, techno, grime, funky house, 2-step, dubstep and skweee.

Already for numerous years Star Warz, one of the biggest drum and bass events in our country, succeeds every time in bringing us some of the most tasty line ups. This XL edition is no less than that and will celebrate the 15 years of Metalheadz.

We are really excited to collaborate on this educative project. During two months, you'll have the opportunity to learn Ableton Live 8, surrounded by experienced Belgian producers. Don't waste your holidays and learn how to produce music!

Stainage Records launches its free download offshoot – Stainage Off The Records, offering 2 tracks each month produced in its members' secret audio labs in Belgium.

Since the release of their last album “Fluorescent Black” in the end of September, Anti-Pop Consortium (Big dada) has been touring all over the world. After the States, after Moscow, after Oslo, they will perform the last show of that tour in... Kortrijk / aka K-Town !

Furlong certainly cannot complain about his close friends. Since his childhood he stayed in the pleasant company of Sub Focus, Brookes Brothers and Culture Shock. Just like Dan Brookes he received a classical piano training. It was written in the stars that one day he would focus on drum&bass.

Lay back in your seats and crank up your subwoofers - this one goes deep!
Brussels welcomes a new street wear shop! Looking for an exclusive t-shirt or sweater with a cool graphic design..? Then Kakkoiiiro is your place to be.
Ever wondered what the dubstep scene in Belgium looks like from the inside? Are you curious about who our own dubstep dj's and producers are? And you wonder how they are working? Or you just want to check nice imagery of the countless dubstep parties Belgium had to offer in the year 2009. Then you should definitely go and see dBstep the documentary!
We take up our series of interesting shops Belgium has to offer. This time we stop in Leuven. In a time where ecological shopping and bio products seem to be everywhere on the market, this shop is a must check. Hempmade is already for a couple of years busy with making people more aware of the products they buy. If you haven't heard about this shop...read the article and go check it out yourself!
